Dr. Kalligeros was born in Australia in 1952. He graduated from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia (UNSW) with the degree of Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery. After completing his internship at the Prince of Wales & Prince Henry Hospital Group in Sydney he spent four years in general practice before returning to Basic Physician Training and went on to complete advanced specialty training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the same group.
From 1989 to date, Dr. Kalligeros has continuously been active in clinical medicine and research. As Consultant Physician in Medicine and Endocrinology, he was initially appointed as Visiting Physician to Royal South Sydney Hospital, member of the same hospital group associated with UNSW and subsequently appointed Director of Endocrinology Clinical Services at the Prince of Wales Hospital and participated in the general medical coverage for the group. At the same time ran his Private Consulting in Endocrinology and Metabolism practice.
For several years he was Director of Biochemistry and Endocrinology, Medical Diagnostics Australia, Sydney. He established the first Osteoporosis Clinic at Prince of Wales Hospital and also the Randwick Osteoporosis Centre, Sydney to provide ambulatory osteoporosis facilities and clinical research.
Before moving permanently to Greece, he worked as Consultant in Endocrinology & Diabetes & General Medicine at the West Middlesex University Hospital and the Great Western Hospital in the UK.
Since 2005 he runs a private practice in Athens, Greece and for a time was Academic Collaborator of the Department of Pathophysiology in the School of Medicine, University of Athens with the role of initiating and mentoring Endocrinology trainees in clinical research.
During his entire career Dr. Kalligeros has given several lectures, presentations and teaching sessions to general practitioners, students and specialty trainees as well as presenting several unusual clinical cases to peer groups. He has been Chief Investigator in Clinical Research, while he has more than 10 publications and continues to be active in the study and research in clinical medicine and the associated sciences.
