An expatriate is a person temporarily or permanently living in a country other than that of the persons upbringing. The term is mostly used for skilled professionals sent abroad by their companies in order to work.
EU Expatriates
Expatriates originating from an EU country have the European Health Insurance Card and usually a private medical insurance provided by their companies, that cover the costs for the received urgent care in case of a medical emergency.
Worldwide Expatriates
Expatriates originating from a country outside the EU can have the costs for urgent care covered in case of emergency, only if they have a private medical insurance otherwise they will be obliged to pay for the full amount up front.
